So today’s post is going to be a little bit different. I’m writing this one for myself. I’m having a BAD day… Like one of those days where you have no idea why you’re having a bad day and you can’t seem to figure it out. I feel like there are so many things swirling around in my head that I can’t get a hold of. It feels as though I’m floating in life with no real direction (which isn’t true). I’m tired and just overall discouraged today.
I saw a post yesterday from one of my favourite worship leaders, Cory Asbury.
Wanna know the secret to overcoming the Monday blues? W O R S H I P ! ! ! Worship shifts our perspective. It takes our eyes off of ourselves. Magnify the Lord! When we magnify Him, our own shortcomings, failures and circumstances become small and His beauty takes center stage where it belongs. 🙌🏿🙏🏿👏🏿
This is such a good reminder for myself and other believers. We NEED to worship. We don’t worship a God that demands praise for himself. We don’t do it only because He is worthy (though He is). We don’t do it solely for the reason that we were made to do. Worship changes us. God is so full of lovingkindness that He takes something that is for Him and He makes it a blessing to us!
I heard in a sermon this morning from Steven Furtick of Elevation Church that life is all about interpretation. It’s about your perspective. What may look bad from one angle may look amazing through another lens. When we focus our hearts on the Lord, our whole perspective changes. Instead of focusing on the things we aren’t, or what isn’t happening in our lives, our eyes are opened to see a steadfast, faithful, powerful-beyond-belief, loving God who is fighting for us, calling us deeper in love with Him and setting us up for success. Hope rises within us because we gain proper perspective again.
Are you feeling like your attention is always on what “isn’t”, or what you wish would be? Do you find that your thoughts are more about worry and fear instead of hope and peace? I want to challenge you to lift your eyes, lift your voice, give your worship to Him. As you focus on Him your perspective will shift and you will live with a renewed hope, peace and joy that God is in control! He’s got you! I don’t know about you but I already can feel hope rising in me! Be blessed friends.
